Flow Waterjet Announces Promotion of New President

Okuma’s MA-12500HW horizontal machining tungsten carbide inserts center is designed to provide a balance of speed and cutting power in difficult materials like cast iron and aluminum alloys. This makes it well suited for large-part aerospace machining, the company says. The W axis allows for a longer tool stroke to machine complex, difficult-to-reach part features with a maximum tool length of 1,100 mm.

Built on an integral bed and base and designed with reinforcing ribs for increased stability and load carrying capacity, the MA-12500H incorporates Okuma’s Thermo-Friendly Concept to ensure thermal stability and machining accuracy. The machine is available with the standard 50-taper, 6,000-rpm, 60/50-hp spindle; a 12,000-rpm wide-range spindle; or a 4,500-rpm heavy-duty spindle.

Maximum load capacity is 11,000 lbs. X-, Y- and Z-axis travels measure 86.61" × 58.07" × 64.9Indexable Carbide Inserts 6", respectively, providing sufficient space for parts as large as 78.72" in diameter and 58.07" high. Rapid traverse is 1,653 ipm. The machine uses a 0.001-degree B-axis rotary table and a 49.21" square pallet along with a parallel-type two-pallet automatic pallet changer. A 171-tool matrix automatic toolchanger (ATC) is available as an option instead of the 81-tool matrix ATC.
